Update on grant application plans for the City of Minneapolis, City of Saint Paul and MnDOT
Next week, MnDOT will host a virtual meeting and in-person open house to share updates on the Rethinking I-94 transit study, including the recommended transit options for the project.
The Rethinking I-94 Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) met on Monday, September 26 to share updated project documents and discuss the upcoming project alternatives.
Last week, we met with representatives from the City of Saint Paul to discuss the upcoming application deadline for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program and to reiterate our ask that the City apply for a planning grant to study the Twin Cities Boulevard.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold the next Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting for the Rethinking I-94 project on Monday, September 26 from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
We have learned that the City of Minneapolis does not intend to apply for a Reconnecting Communities grant to study the Twin Cities Boulevard.Â
On June 30, the United States Department of Transportation opened the application period for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program. This program provides federal funding to help communities repair the harms of past transportation infrastructure.
Six new community organizations have signed on to the Twin Cities Boulevard sign-on letter.
Minnesota State Senators and Legislators sent a letter to the Minneapolis City Council urging them to include 24/7 bus lanes on Hennepin and approve the design.
