SUMMARY:Legalize Land Value Tax: Expert Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Land Value Tax (LVT) is illegal in Minnesota. But it is a valuable property tax tool that\, if legalized\, towns and cities across the state could use if they choose. LVT disincentivizes damaging land speculation\, addresses problematic vacant or underutilized land\, and can help transform communities with new\, sustainable housing and development. \n\n\n\n	\n	\n\n\nJoin LVT experts from across the nation (Adriana Rizzoli\, Josie Faass\, Jamal Thomas\, and Nick Allen) for an exclusive panel discussion on land use reform and how it can help transform the way our communities grow.   \n\n\n\nCo-hosts: Sierra Club\, Common Ground MN\, Neighbors for More Neighbors\, Sustain Saint Paul\, Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota

SUMMARY:Brooklyn Center 252/94 Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:MnDOT is hosting a public meeting on the 252/94 project as part of the environmental review. Join and voice your opposition to expansion. \n\n\n\nTake Action\n\n\n\nIf MnDOT moves forward with highway expansion\, approximately 210 homes and businesses may be destroyed in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center\, two of the Twin Cities’ most racially diverse suburban communities\, in the largest highway-driven land acquisition in a generation. \n\n\n\nThe proposed expansion threatens to displace adjacent residents\, seize property\, and disrupt community bonds. Those who remain will suffer increased traffic–expected to be double current levels–as well as tire pollution\, and vehicle tailpipe pollution.

SUMMARY:Community Workshop with RISE
DESCRIPTION:Join Reviving Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment (RISE) in collaboration with Our Streets\, Amanah Rec\, and Al Maa’uun to discuss the Highway Justice Act. \n\n\n\nMinnesota’s trunk highway system takes various forms\, from small-town main streets to large urban freeways\, and serves all transportation modes. These highways aren’t just for car—they’re vital corridors that connect our communities\, whether we’re driving\, walking\, biking\, or taking public transit. However\, the way we currently interpret state law means that highway funding can only be used for car-related infrastructure\, even though our Constitution never specifically required this limitation. \n\n\n\nThe proposed legislation would clarify that highway funds can be used for all types of transportation infrastructure along highway corridors. The policy also puts us on par with climate and transportation leaders like Colorado\, who passed a similar policy in 2013. \n\n\n\nLearn More

SUMMARY:Rethinking I-94 Policy Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is hosting a virtual Political Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on Rethinking I-94. \n\n\n\nThe Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) intends to remove at-grade boulevard options from consideration for Rethinking I-94. Take action to keep the Twin Cities Boulevard vision alive. \n\n\n\nRegister for the Meeting\n\nTake Action\n\n\n\nShow up to hear project updates and support Twin Cities Boulevard. You can advocate for the “at-grade” A and B alternatives and ask that MnDOT fix their flawed project evaluation criteria. Communities that were divided by I-94 deserve the opportunity to create a new future for the corridor. This must include options that don’t rebuild the highway trench.  If MnDOT proceeds with this decision\, it will take that option away from Saint Paul and Minneapolis communities. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Twin Cities Boulevard.

SUMMARY:Taking the Wheel: Rethinking I-94 Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The future of I-94 is being decided behind closed doors. Join us to collectively and publicly raise our voices for environmental\, racial\, and climate justice! \n\n\n\n\n\nMnDOT is trying to shut out the public by holding a virtual-only meeting at an inaccessible time and limiting public comment about I-94\, an issue affecting everyone in the Twin Cities. But we know the people deserve a say\, and our voices are strongest together. Join us on January 17th at the Minneapolis Central Library to observe the meeting and support each other as we give public comment. We have this once-in-a-generation opportunity to repair the harms of urban highways and invest in infrastructure like the Twin Cities Boulevard that actually works for the people and the planet. That’s what we are fighting for\, no matter how hard MnDOT tries to limit our options and maintain the status quo. \n\n\n\nIf you haven’t already\, register for public comment. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nThe meeting starts at 9:30am\, with public comment scheduled at the end of the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:Pollution reduction. Transit funding without tax increase. Community input on infrastructure.\n\n\n\nJoin us doorknocking! We’ll be letting residents know about the Highway Justice Act. \n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\nMinnesota’s trunk highway system takes various forms\, from small-town main streets to large urban freeways\, and serves all transportation modes. These highways aren’t just for cars—they’re vital corridors that connect our communities\, whether we’re driving\, walking\, biking\, or taking public transit. How we currently interpret state law means that highway funding can only be used for car-related infrastructure\, even though our Constitution never specifically required this limitation. \n\n\n\nThe proposed legislation would clarify that highway funds can be used for all types of transportation infrastructure along highway corridors. The policy also puts us on par with climate and transportation leaders like Colorado\, who passed a similar policy in 2013. This change has strong public support—66% of Minnesotans favor using state and federal highway funding to improve various transportation options rather than just expanding highways. \n\n\n\nCan’t make it? SUMMARY:Highway Justice Day at the Capitol
DESCRIPTION:Join Our Streets for a day at the Capitol as we advocate for transformative policies prioritizing people-first transportation in Minnesota. Our 2025 legislative priorities aim to address the inequities perpetuated by current transportation infrastructure and ensure communities are not further harmed by highways or neglected by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. \n\n\n\nEngage with your legislators and make your voice heard on the Highway Justice Act\, which would give impacted communities opportunities to meaningfully be a part of transportation decisions\, prevent pollution\, and increase funding for transit\, walking\, and biking infrastructure. \n\n\n\nJoin us when you’re available. We will rally and meet with bill authors 11am-1pm with a break for lunch. Then\, individuals may independently meet with representatives between1pm and 5pm.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Highway Justice Act would:\n\n\n\nGive you a meaningful voice over highway projects that impact your life. The Highway Justice Act would reform how major highways are approved to strengthen the power of impacted community members and their elected officials. This law will help ensure that transportation projects benefit\, not harm\, the communities they are routed through. \n\n\n\nPrevent MnDOT from further polluting our communities. The Highway Justice Act would add new community protections\, requiring MnDOT to conduct a comprehensive review of the total past\, present\, and future impacts on a community when planning a major highway project. \n\n\n\nIncrease available funding for transit\, walking and biking without raising taxes. The Highway Justice Act would also clarify Minnesota law to allow trunk highway dollars to be spent on transit\, walking and biking infrastructure. This change would help advance a transportation system that works for Minnesotans of every race\, age\, ability\, and income. The Highway Justice Act would reduce traffic congestion\, make it easier to get around without a car\, and help working people save money\, all while reducing harmful emissions. \n\n\n\nLearn More
