SUMMARY:Open Streets MPLS™ Cedarfest
DESCRIPTION:The Open Streets MPLS™ fun continues in Cedar-Riverside! \n\n\n\nMark your calendar for Open Streets Cedarfest\, where we close down the corridor to car traffic\, allowing people to walk\, bike\, roll\, and connect with their neighbors and local businesses. Together\, we’ll experience the streets as a place to explore\, play\, and dream. \n\n\n\nThis year\, Our Streets and the West Bank Business Association are co-hosting the event. \n\n\n\nHelp make Open Streets Cedarfest a success by signing up to volunteer\, registering as a participant\, or becoming a sponsor. \n\n\n\nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to get to Open Streets\n\n\n\nWalk\, bike\, roll\, or take public transit to the event! However you choose to get here\, we can’t wait to see you. Metro Transit is offering free rides. Take their quick survey and you’ll receive your free ride pass. Additionally\, please note that bus routes 2\, 3\, 7\, and 22 will have detours from 8am-6:30pm. \n\n\n\nFree Event Metro Transit Pass\n\nBus Route Detours\n\n\n\nDon’t want to there will be a bike group ride hosted by Behind Bars Bicycle Shop. Meet at the bike shop at 12pm. Roll out is at 12:15pm. \n\n\n\nBike Group Ride with Behind Bars\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoute Map & Passport\n\n\n\nPlanning the spots you want to stop at along the route? SUMMARY:Week Without Driving
DESCRIPTION:Challenge yourself to not drive for a week! Those who can drive and have access to a car don’t face the same barriers of people who rely on daily walking\, rolling\, transit\, and asking for rides. Week Without Driving is a firsthand learning experience so that those who have the option to drive can learn about the barriers non-drivers often face. \n\n\n\nHere’s how it works: You can get around however you want without driving yourself in any car. This applies to all your activities\, not only your work commute! Consider carpooling or paying for rides\, biking to work\, or taking public transit to get around. If you have to drive\, this doesn’t mean you failed the challenge. Instead\, use this an opportunity to reflect and consider what this means for non-drivers. \n\n\n\nAnyone can participate in the Week Without Driving! Take this opportunity to challenge yourself and not drive for a week. \n\n\n\nSign up for Week Without Driving

SUMMARY:Imagine 6th Avenue North
DESCRIPTION:Imagine 6th Avenue North is a big\, family-friendly party for neighborhood connection and community organization. This free event is a fantastic way to experience artists\, musicians\, and local businesses from the neighborhood and imagine a better future together. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFree Food\, Live Music\, Art\, & More\n\n\n\nWhen the Minnesota Highway Commission (now the Minnesota Department of Transportation or MnDOT) routed and constructed Olson Memorial Highway over historic 6th Avenue North in the late 1930s and 1940s\, it destroyed a vibrant Black and Jewish community corridor\, often called the “Beale Street of Minneapolis.” Homes\, businesses\, jazz clubs\, synagogues\, churches\, and community centers were demolished to make way for the highway. \n\n\n\nJoin us as we joyfully organize around the future of 6th Avenue North. \n\n\n\nApply to be a Vendor\n\nAbout the Imagine Series
