DESCRIPTION:Join Reviving Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment (RISE) in collaboration with Our Streets\, Amanah Rec\, and Al Maa’uun to discuss the Highway Justice Act.  \n\n\n\nMinnesota’s trunk highway system takes various forms\, from small-town main streets to large urban freeways\, and serves all transportation modes. These highways aren’t just for car—they’re vital corridors that connect our communities\, whether we’re driving\, walking\, biking\, or taking public transit. However\, the way we currently interpret state law means that highway funding can only be used for car-related infrastructure\, even though our Constitution never specifically required this limitation. \n\n\n\nThe proposed legislation would clarify that highway funds can be used for all types of transportation infrastructure along highway corridors. Take action to keep the Twin Cities Boulevard vision alive. \n\n\n\nRegister for the Meeting\n\nTake Action\n\n\n\nShow up to hear project updates and support Twin Cities Boulevard. You can advocate for the “at-grade” A and B alternatives and ask that MnDOT fix their flawed project evaluation criteria. Communities that were divided by I-94 deserve the opportunity to create a new future for the corridor. This must include options that don’t rebuild the highway trench.  If MnDOT proceeds with this decision\, it will take that option away from Saint Paul and Minneapolis communities. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Twin Cities Boulevard.

But we know the people deserve a say\, and our voices are strongest together. Join us on January 17th at the Minneapolis Central Library to observe the meeting and support each other as we give public comment. We have this once-in-a-generation opportunity to repair the harms of urban highways and invest in infrastructure like the Twin Cities Boulevard that actually works for the people and the planet.
