SUMMARY:Week Without Driving with America Walks
DESCRIPTION:Challenge yourself to not drive for a week! Those who can drive and have access to a car don’t face the same barriers of people who rely on daily walking\, rolling\, transit\, and asking for rides. Week Without Driving is a firsthand learning experience so that those who have the option to drive can learn about the barriers nondrivers often face. \n\n\n\nHere’s how it works: You can get around however you want without driving yourself in any car. This applies to all your activities\, not only your work commute! Consider carpooling or paying for rides\, biking to work\, or taking public transit to get around. If you have to drive\, this doesn’t mean you failed the challenge. Instead\, use this an opportunity to reflect and consider what this means for nondrivers. \n\n\n\nAnyone can participate in the Week Without Driving! Take this opportunity to challenge yourself and not drive for a week. \n\n\n\nSign up for Week Without Driving

SUMMARY:Volunteer Doorknocking
DESCRIPTION:Join us in letting neighbors know about the future of Olson Memorial Highway! \n\n\n\nA new report from the Bring Back 6th coalition\, a group of organizations that have been advocating for the removal of Olson Memorial Highway in North Minneapolis since 2021\, unveiled three engineered design concepts to consider for the future of the corridor. The concepts emerged from a community-led process. \n\n\n\nDiagrams of the three concepts (left: Linear Park\, center: Neighborhood Blocks\, right: Tree-Lined Transitway)\n\n\n\nNow\, we will continue to get feedback from community to further refine the street designs and advocate for a reconnected North Minneapolis. \n\n\n\nJoin us as we spread the word about the current survey. Materials\, training\, and staff support on doors provided. Also: free coffee and vegan baked goods. \n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nThe Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is planning a major reimagining and reconstruction of the Olson Memorial Highway corridor in Minneapolis in the coming years. This project could improve safety\, reduce pollution\, add new transportation options\, and repurpose highway land for new uses. \n\n\n\nCommunity input is critical to project success. Your responses will be used to shape supporting policies\, ensuring the project truly reflects community goals and prioritizes the needs and benefits of the people who live here.

SUMMARY:Twin Cities Boulevard Letter Writing Party & Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Grab a drink at Urban Growler and connect with fellow advocates for this letter writing party and happy hour to help save the Twin Cities Boulevard! We’ll be posting up on Urban Growler’s patio\, so come dressed for the fall weather. \n\n\n\nThe Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) intends to finalize their decision to remove the at-grade boulevard options from consideration for Rethinking I-94. This goes against what the community has been asking for. We’re writing letters to Governor Walz to continue putting pressure on restoring the boulevard options. Our Streets staff will also be presenting a short update about where MnDOT is at with the Rethinking I-94 project followed by a Q&A.
