Apply to join the Twin Cities Transportation Academy
The Twin Cities Transportation Academy is returning for the second year! This free community class is designed to help bridge the gap between community advocates and transportation planning entities. Over eight weeks, participants learn about the fundamentals of transportation planning, hear from guest speakers with local and national expertise, and have the opportunity to study an issue important to them.
This year, we hope to focus on:
- The intersection of land use and transportation planning, with some deep dives into light rail safety/perception improvements in other cities
- Anti-gentrification options
- Highway removal and change success stories in other cities
- The Bring Back 6th campaign in North Minneapolis

We will work together as a class to create a kind of map or diagram of how transportation decisions get made and funded in the metro area. Community members will come away from the Academy with skills and knowledge to advocate for safe and accessible transportation networks that work for everyone.
This program is free and open to participants 18+ who live in the Twin Cities area. There is a cap of 35 students, and we will prioritize participants who are available for most sessions and represent a variety of Twin Cities neighborhoods. The class will be held just after work hours on a weekday, once a week for eight weeks.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
