Twin Cities Transportation Academy Application 2025

Application Questions

This section of the application is simply an opportunity for you to share more about why you are interested in the Community Transportation Academy and what background you have in advocacy or in local transportation issues. There are no prerequisites or other requirements for participation.

Attendance

Participation in most sessions will help the group get the most out of this course. Students last year were in favor of more in-person classes, so this year we are offering all in-person with a hybrid option (likely google meet or zoom, where remote students will engage in discussion with an in-person group or amongst themselves). Because only one Our Streets staff person is coordinating the class, the hybrid option will not be as robust as online seminars can be, but at least participants can hear speakers remotely and engage to some level with each other. Sessions will take place Tuesdays from 5:15-7:45 with a couple of optional additions. If attending the whole class time is not an option, but you’d be able to attend a substantial portion of the class, we encourage you to still sign up.
Check all the following classes you're able to attend (Tuesdays 5:15-7:45 unless otherwise noted)*
Schedule: 5-5:15: arrive, grab a snack/beverage, settle in, sign in 5:15-5:30: finish sign in, welcome speaker, community announcements 5:45-6:30: speaker presentation (if presentation format) 6:30-6:45: small group discussion 6:45-7:15: share back and Q&A with speaker(s) 7:15-7:40: workshop activities 7:40-7:45 last announcements, pack up
Dietary restrictions: In addition to a $50 Metro Transit Go-To card, Our Streets will provide heavy snacks, bubbly water, and juice at every session since it is in the dinner hour. Please indicate any dietary restrictions/allergens.
Extra-curricular/post-class involvement: Check any that interest you (you can change your mind!)

Survey information

Re-Amp Network, whose generous grants support this academy and make it free, is interested in how well these academies in cities across the midwest are reaching diverse demographics. Instead of typical demographics questions, we are asking participants to discuss factors that relate to their ability to access transportation and advocacy. We will also deliver a survey at the end of class that will be anonymous if you prefer not to answer here. Any information you share will be anonymous and used for statistical purposes to inform future outreach.
