Apply to join the Twin Cities Transportation Academy

The Twin Cities Transportation Academy returns for its third year! This free community class is designed to help bridge the gap between community advocates and transportation planning entities. Over five weeks, participants will learn the fundamentals of transportation planning, hear from guest speakers with local and national expertise, and integrate what they learn with their own experiences.

We will be hosting five academies over the Spring; each will focus on one of Our Streets’ three campaigns:

We will announce session dates soon. If interested, please submit an interest form so we can keep you updated.

The sessions will focus on community histories, land use, and transportation planning that serves community needs.

Participants will also join a book group to explore and discuss community- and transportation-related histories. Book groups will work together to synthesize lessons from their books, guest speakers, and their own experiences into a final presentation.

Community members will leave the Academy with the skills and knowledge to advocate for safe, accessible transportation networks that work for everyone.

This program is free and open to participants 18+ who live in the greater Twin Cities area. Each academy has a cap of 20 students. We will prioritize participants who are available for most sessions and live in each campaign target area. The class will be held in person, just after work hours on a weekday, once a week for five weeks.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and participants will receive a $400 stipend.
