Alexander Furneaux
Board President
he/him
Alex loves seeing cities at the pace of a person walking or riding their bike. He believes it helps us connect with our communities and allows us to notice qualities that make them unique. As an urban planner specializing in community engagement and collaboration, he works closely with communities to plan safe, practical, and joyful opportunities to move about.
He puts this planning into action by organizing people around opportunities to engage with one’s community through riding bikes. He is slowly initiating a biking and transit revolution at his work through a monthly bike bus. He routinely leads community group rides in South Minneapolis focused on welcoming people who are new to cycling or seeking a new community of people on bikes to ride with. In his hometown of Toronto, he was an organizer with the Bike Brigade, a mutual aid organization connecting people to fresh food and other essentials through a network of bike riders.
When he’s not on his bike, Alex can be found baking, gardening, print-making, or with his little black cat, Linus.
