Theory of Change
Our World Now
Transportation and infrastructure decisions rooted in car dependency and institutionalized racism have displaced and divided low-income, Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities.
These deliberate choices severed neighborhoods, undermined economic opportunity, and exposed residents to pollution and environmental harm.
Without bold, community-led intervention, these injustices will continue to harm future generations.

When communities lead infrastructure decisions:
Agencies invest in equitable, community-driven projects, and streets and highways are designed to reconnect neighborhoods. Land is reimagined to promote community ownership and healing, and new spaces emerge that nurture belonging and connection. Coalitions grow stronger and drive systemic change.

Where We Want to Be
Our Streets is a community-driven advocacy organization that mobilizes grassroots power to transform transportation. We envision a future where all people live in healthy, connected communities where everyone has access to sustainable transportation, housing, healthcare, nutritious food, green spaces, and economic security. This is the world we want now and for generations to come.
WE DO THIS BY
- Developing leadership within impacted communities
- Inspiring residents through organizing and public events
- Building cross-sector partnerships
